Half Moon House is a Grade II listed building in the village of Clare in Suffolk. Originating in the fifteenth century, the building has been used as a hotel, a pub and more recently as a residential home, but now incorporates a range of exclusive apartments.
The developers, May Homes Ltd, engaged us in 2019 to renew the central courtyard. As the conversion of the building was nearing completion, our remit was to both smarten and soften the tiny outside space to appeal to potential buyers.
An old Wisteria which had been retained was restoratively pruned and supported using old timbers from the house, and quite quickly and with a modest budget, the building site was transformed into a simple courtyard garden.
